The Cowlitz River is one of the best-known rivers in the state for steelhead, chinook, and native cutthroat trout. It’s often hard to find a place to fish that is not elbow to elbow.
But now and then you get lucky and hit one of your favorite fishing holes and there is no one else there. On evenings like this, you can relax and enjoy the sound of the water, the fresh scent of fall leaves, and the colors of a good sunset.
We got lucky and had an evening like this. We even caught a steelhead, but the day was so nice that it was a bonus. We cherish days like this because it’s hard to find them. How zen is your inner bear?
